A comrades' pocket is toned while in campus

At times I get irritated with the perception the society out their have on campus student. Am not being biased but the truth must be weighed in order to determine who is digging into comrades' pocket.

Last week while traveling from home to school, I met this man at stage entrance and offered to lift my luggage into the bus stage. The guy on arrival demanded sh50 for his services. To me it sounded so awkward only that I did not want to be rude to him, I told him I had sh 20. The guy kept on insisting to be given sh 50 but at last settled on sh 20.

This incident reminded me of Mary my hairdresser a month ago when I visited her salon for my hair dressing. She had narrated to me on how campus life used to be luxurious some years back when students had money to change hair styles on weekly basis and dispose their belongings such as basins, mattresses, shoes and electronic gadgets at the end of every semester only to buy new ones on reopening.

According to Mary, the business used to be lucrative due to student money and led a comfortable life, "During that time, I could plait several students with the amount of money I demand without the negotiation but nowadays things have changed, they bargain up to the last coin sticking unto their amount," Mary reiterated.

Mary said the business has gone down recently as students prefer styling their hair after every month or two due to economic hurdles they are undergoing due to reduced HELB loan deposited into their accounts unlike in the past when they used to receive huge amounts enough to buy a car in two years. Gone are the days when student leaders could drive vehicles outdoing their lecturers.

The big challenge that students face is the way outsiders view them as income earners to a point of raising the living standards in the surrounding environment. What disgusts most is the fact that residential rooms in stage goes at sh 3,500 to 8,000 per month. This is mining from a comrades pocket as they do not have choice as the university can not accommodate all the students within university premises.

Balancing parenthood and class needs contentment

Parenthood in campus is a challenging task that most students would never want to be associated with as it is too demanding and time consuming.Many term it as a way a fact that hinders them from life enjoyment in campus.

According to Evelyn Nyaboka, a fourth year student in Moi University who is a young teacher, balancing motherhood and class is not a big deal to her. She loves her kid and would do anything on earth to sustain her.

"Am able to wake up early to ensure that my boy has something to eat during the day, I do not rely on house girls to prepare a meal for Raymond," Evelyn reiterated.

Nyaboka said she is willing to do part time contracts including laundry in stage side residential in order to put food on their table since money sent from home can not sustain them. She was about to abort the child after her boyfriend dumped her on discovering her pregnancy.

For Evelyn being a mother and a student as well has made her learn to be hardworking and believes that life shall never threaten her, she is ready to face what comes her way. She has never failed in her exams and aspires to be a good teacher who would train her students to be men and women of substance.

Need to stay healthy this cold season

Recent weather changes across the country have left many wondering on what to do in order to avoid catching cold and other related diseases.

According to research done earlier, colds result from infection with a virus which mainly affect nose and throat.

Cold symptoms begin with throat discomfort or sore throat. The symptoms are followed by clear watery nasal discharge, sneezing, fatigue and at times slight fever. It is understood that post nasal drip from your nose and sinuses can cause a cough.

The first days of a cold nose can be filled with watery nasal secretions. The secretion may become thicker and darker. Dark mucus does not necessarily mean you have developed bacterial infection.

It is wise to call a doctor once you experience fever, increased weakness, pain when swallowing and coughing up greater amounts of yellow and green coloured mucus.

Research shows good hygiene can decrease viral infections such as colds and prevent the spread of cold viruses by making sure you and your family members wash your hands regularly with detergents even after coughing.

Every born person has a disability

 To say disability is not inability is a true reality in life. Human beings shall never believe that they are disabled in a way as they expect a disabled person to be handicapped either not able to walk, see or hear.

 The truth whether you agree or disagree is that we all have disabilities but only that the disability is not hindering us from performing normal tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

“Top seat contestants” clash in radio show

A political radio show, MUSO DECIDES, on Moi University Radio (M.U F.M) yesterday turned ugly as aspirants in the MUSO chairmanship race took at each other, lashing each other for their alleged misgivings. Two aspirants ,Shem Ouma and Apuoyo Rathore, seemed to be at the extreme ends of the scuffle that ensued at the M.U F.M studios wich each trying to discredit the other on their reasons for joining the chairmanship race.

Apuoyo Rathore, who rides on the “we the people” slogan was put to task to defend himself against allegations by his rival Shem Ouma who claimed that Rathore was coerced by four sitting directors into entering the chairmanship race. Rathore dismissed this claim, saying that his campaign was anchored on 11 pillars, each centered towards an oversight role in the 11 MUSO dockets.
Shem Ouma, the crusader of the “we must be great” slogan who was on the opposite end rubbished Rathore’s claims that he was eying the top seat just to ensure that a Luhya clinches the seat after Rathore presented a screenshot of a conversation between Ouma and a Luhya elder, in which Ouma is said to have intimated the same. Things got interesting after the said Luhya elder came out in Ouma’s defense claiming that Ouma was seeking blessings from an older brother.
Towett Ng’etich took a backseat as he seemed to have been caught up in the middle of the scuffle pitting the two. Rathore however challenged his integrity citing a photo where he is allegedly seen to be walking behind Deputy President William Ruto, questioning his integrity as he moved to cloud Ruto’s integrity, as he made claims casting doubts to the deputy president’s integrity. This he attributed to a claim he made alleging that Towett was Ruto’s political student.
As the quest for the top seat in Moi University’s student politics intensifies, many will be keen to see how the race shapes up and how the three come out to defend their candidature. It also remains to be seen whether Rathore and Ouma will make peace or whether the two will carry on with the personal attacks against each other.

What!!!!!!!! chewing someone's pen is just horrible get this clear.

Sometimes we contract diseases without noticing the genesis of the whole thing. This might be as a result of how we handle objects and expose them close to our mouths.  That pen you borrow or steal from your friend is not always safe to handle especially for those guys who perceive that everything held at hand is food.

Of course that pen you borrowed had already been exposed to someone else’s spit when that person was either very much idle or was seriously thinking about something.  I’m against the act of chewing pens but it is much better than opening your mouth open when wondering or thinking very hard because you might have even forgotten to brush your teeth.

 People who think hard open their mouths, hit their heads on the wall or chew pens. People who think smart, we are not bothered about you.

Secondly, have you borrowed a pen and in the process of trying to ‘kiss’ it you meet with an unpleasant smell? Yeah that is the bacteria in the owner’s saliva; please let it rotate within the owner’s territory.  You better bear with your fiance's bacteria than interact with new ones from someone else unless you are trying to adventure into bacteriology. I know I don’t make sense to you but it carries more sense to suck the ‘soup’ on that pen’s tip hha.

Thirdly, did you know people have money for partying but not for replacing lost pens? Whatever the case, you will understand it better that very moment you will kiss a pen which had been dropped in the toilet. You now wonder if people close their eyes and remove their pens in a mixture of shit and urine. Sorry for interfering with your appetite I’m just sending some useful information.

Before you wonder, answer me this question, what would you do if your car keys, ATM, accidentally slip out of your pocket into that mixture of shit and urine, will you say to hell with it and walk away?, you can say yes but the time you’ll drop them is the time you will confess that shit is not just dirt because it is excreted from the body. ‘Germs are not aware’ will be your slogan forever. 

 

I’m not wasting your time but I was just assuming to be in the shoes of that person who picks up his/her pen in amidst of shit mixed with urine. Don’t ever trust that pen it might have gone through that process, washed and wiped. Indeed it is clean for the person who bought it.

What will happen if your friend has tooth decay and you have a slight injury in your mouth, the result might not be friendly to talk about, we escape only in the mercies of God. Don’t waste your time friends, doing thorough cleanliness of your house and your body and end up kissing shit without your conscience.

Before I leave you to think, please check in your class or places of work, there are those people who use their pens to scratch their heads(woi dandruff) ears, nose (Is the image of mucus running through your mind?  Relax), at the back, pubic hair, buttocks (did I say shit? No sweat) legs and toes hha I'm confused if you can still borrow and chew their pens.

Bye , but before you leave people are rich because of pens, people are legends because of pens, death sentences are signed using pens, these pens are important and critical use them but don’t ‘kiss’ instead use them to write a letter to someone whom you can end up kissing until you are kissed by death.
