Millers should not increase flour prices

By Wanyama

The cost of maize flour is set to go up. Being a staple food, this will greatly affect most Kenyan households at a time they are grappling with harsh economic times. Data available from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) reveals that in the period 2010 to 2015, Kenyans spent half their disposable income on food.

This by itself is an indicator of high levels of poverty, which impact negatively on other vital aspects of life, mostly health and schooling.

Further increases in the price of maize flour are likely to compound an already dire situation. Maize millers in the country are boycotting to buy maize from the National Cereals Board citing health concerns.

This, according to the millers, is informed by the brownish colour of maize from the cereals board which they claim indicates overstaying in the silos and could easily lead to food poisoning.

Such overriding concerns for the safety of Kenyans are commendable since several deaths from aflatoxin (maize poisoning) were reported in the recent past. It would be wrong for millers to keep quiet over a potentially dangerous issue because of profits.

But it is difficult to comprehend how Government silos could have maize that has overstayed. In 2014/2015, farmers in the Rift Valley stopped selling their maize to the Government, citing poor prices. The farmers claimed they were being offered Sh2,300 for a 90kg bag of maize instead of Sh3,300. In fact, at some point in 2015, the Government had to import maize from Tanzania because of maize shortages.

The Government has discounted the miller’s claims and assured Kenyans the maize in store is safe for consumption. Kenyans can only hope that this is not a ploy by millers to increase the prices. We cannot lose sight of the fact that in 2014/2015, millers and middlemen bought maize directly from farmers and should therefore be having enough stocks.
why little stress is always good for your health .

A team of researchers from Canada have proved the worsened spread of viral particles when taking painkillers for flu. People who fight the battle unmedicated less frequently suffer from it than those who rush for medical treatment.
The essence of the study was to prove that little discomfort is good for human health and survival.
Apart from that, other studies encourage the theory that cold baths are better than warm.

Not always the normal calls, funny things people do in the toile!!!

After reading this short list of what people always dash to do in the washrooms,  you will be thinking otherwise when you see Dan/Mercys' heading to the dedicated small office holding that white clearance "receipt", the tissue.

According to a research which was solely based on interview and secret investigations, some of the things which happen in that place will shock you.

1. The Short and long calls. Of course these are two core objectives targeted by most people heading to those washrooms.

2. Counting money - shocked?!  Not yet. Do you always do that?  Hha, not you alone. People who fear being noticed with huge money will prefer  locking themselves inside a toilet to count and even put aside a certain amount that may not attract attention of an hungry man. But believe me, they will come out holding up their zips.

3.Cheking periods - Women/ladies sometimes visit the place to check  they are in those special "DAYS". That is the term if I'm not wrong.

4.changing pads - if you are heading there after reading this, please check for me at the top joining close to the roof. Please don't check inside it is obvious, that is a business for tomorrow.

5.stolen kiss /quickie-please learn to be doing it at a better place. People from that big hotel /restaurant have some more urgent calls to attend to, at the top of the list. Go home please. Nkt.

6. Secret - cry - when you hear Kenyans saying "utalia Kwa Choo"  they are not joking my friend. When the situation worsens some people find the toilet the only place to seek relieve pain or shame. They will always come out with a series of blinks on their eyes  .

7.Secret-dining - hahaha.!  Where are these form one students?. This is hilarious and at the same time disgusting. Do people really run to the toilet to have a bite??.  That must be a professional mean creature. Have you ever found anything edible in those "places" who took it there?!!  I rest my case.

The good Lord is not your sponsor...

By Reuben wanyama

First of all, let me clear up who a sponsor is.
Sponsor: Typically an older man or woman that is in a symbiotic relationship with a younger lad where he fulfills the monetary desires of the young lad and in turn gets sexual favors and also a sense of being wanted and needed. People usually leave out the last part of the definition because they want to depict this relationship in the worst possible way. Don't get me wrong, I am not one to judge and point fingers because my moral and religious beliefs are not the same for you or them and vice versa.

it angers me that now in the name of spreading God's word; we want to associate the good Lord with this. No, God is not a sponsor. God is a provider. God does not bless you or provide for your needs so that He can prove anything to anyone or so that you can give him anything. God provides for you because He loves his people and has promised them life and life in abundance.

When I listen to Jimmy Gait's Yesu ndio sponsor, I can't help but feel a great amount of disappointment. This is a great materialization of the gospel. The naked truth is that this song was released because sales were estimated to be high why? Everybody is now talking about sponsors and what better way to generate sales than sing about what everybody is talking about? I mean its typical entertainment A, B, C.  I have listened to the song and I literally have no words for this man!

The gospel industry has become a cash cow for many artists and instead of spreading the truth and how to remain right in the eyes of the Lord, we want to sing about sponsors and a few lines of how if you come to Christ you will receive 'sponsorship.'

I am not the most righteous of the pack but even I know that when I go before the Lord, I don't do it so that he can give me 'sponsorship'. The good Lord gives us something better; he gives us eternal life, forgiveness, a second chance, a never ending love and a ready ear for anytime you feel like it’s getting a bit too much. All these earthly possessions He blesses us with are just but a bonus.

Artists should stop materializing God. Do not strive to maintain your relevance in the industry by thinking you can blurt out anything that trends and associate it with the good Lord. God is not your playmate nor is he your sponsor; seek to praise him in truth and in spirit, not in trends and hashtags!

Pope says 'never again' to tragedies like Armenian genocide

By sonkoh

A somber Pope Francis, "with pain in my heart," paid tribute on Saturday to the 1.5 million Armenians massacred in 1915, an event which he has labeled a genocide, risking Turkey's ire.

Francis, on the second day of his trip to Armenia, made an early morning stop at the Tzitzernakaberd, the "Genocide Memorial and Museum," a towering granite needle flanked by an eternal flame on a hillside overlooking the Armenian capital.

There, visibly moved, he took part in a prayer service along with President Serzh Sarksyan and leaders of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

"Here I pray, with pain in my heart, so that never again will there be tragedies like this, so that humanity does not forget and knows how to overcome evil with good," he wrote in the guest book in Italian.
On Friday night in a speech to the president, the government and diplomats, Francis departed from his prepared text to use the word "genocide," a description that infuriated Turkey when he said it a year ago.
As of Saturday morning there was no official reaction from Turkey, which last year recalled its ambassador to the Vatican after the pope used the 'genocide' term. The envoy was kept away for 10 months.
Turkey accepts many Christian Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire were killed in clashes with Ottoman forces during World War One, but contests the figures and denies the killings were systematically orchestrated and constitute a genocide. It also says many Muslim Turks perished at that time.
"There is no reason not to use this word in this case," Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi told reporters on Friday night. "The reality is clear and we never denied what the reality is."
At the Saturday morning ceremony, Francis chatted with descendants of Armenian orphans who were sheltered at the papal summer residence south of Rome at the start of the 20th century.
"May God grant the beloved Armenian people and the entire world peace and consolation. May God protect the memory of the Armenian people. Memory should not be diluted or forgotten. Memory is a source of peace and the future," he wrote in the guest book.

After the memorial service the pope flew to say a Mass in the provincial city of Gyumri, near the border with Turkey and within sight of Mount Ararat, where the Bible says Noah's Ark landed after the Great Flood.

Comrade nursing wounds after being caught stealing sukuma wiki

By Reuben Wanyama

A man at the suburbs of Moi university commonly referred to as "the stage"  is nursing wounds after he was roughed up by a furious mama mboga  who caught him stealing kales (Sukuma wiki) at her shed (kibanda).

It is alleged that the young man surnamed Ouma, was yesterday evening at 8.00 pm caught red handed stealing sukuma wiki after he noticed that the kibanda was unattended, the woman raised an alarm and the neighbouring mama mbogas responded quickly and got hold of the man who was beaten thoroughly.

Upon being grilled on why he was stealing, the man gave a lame excuse saying that he lacked vegetables to prepare for supper. This surprised mama mbogas' who could not understand how a student could steal sukuma wiki costing 10 bob.

After the mama mbogas' descended on him with kicks and blows, he was  rescued by his fellow comrades  and taken to Moi university dispensary where he is nursing his wounds.
